Five-point plan for healthcare education and training

Published in October 2023, our position paper argues universities will be central to filling 112,000 NHS vacancies and delivering a significant increase in health workforce numbers in future.

It sets out five changes needed to healthcare and education training:

1. boosting student recruitment
2. increasing numbers of educators
3. investing in new facilities and infrastructure
4. increasing placement capacity
5. improving learner experience

We also showcased case studies on our website and social media channels – from virtual wards on the University of Leeds, to Edge Hill University’s ‘Robbie the Robot’, which uses AI to recognise early dementia symptoms by watching Emmerdale.
